Nitrous oxide (laughing gas) is a safe and effective option to help you feel more comfortable and relaxed during potentially uncomfortable or stressful procedures. The gas is mixed with oxygen and delivered through a mask, allowing you to control how much you inhale.
How it Works
- Breath normally through your mouth and nose
- Effects are felt within a few minutes
- You remain awake, aware, and able to communicate
- Effects wear off quickly, usually within 15 minutes or less
Side Effects
Side effects are usually rare and mild and can include:
- Headache
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Dizziness
- Temporary hoarseness or change in voice
Safety
Nitrous oxide is generally safe, but it is not recommended if you have:
- A current respiratory infection
- COPD
- COVID-19
- Recent ear or eye surgery
- Cannot hold your own face mask

Is Nitrous oxide covered by insurance?
It is considered an add-on service and is not covered by insurance.
The cost is $100.00 (effective 1/1/2025) and must be paid prior to your appointment.
