Dr. Shinners grew up in Augusta, Maine, where her interest in medicine was sparked by a high school cancer research project. She studied female endocrinology in college before pursuing her career in obstetrics and gynecology. Taking after her artist mother, she also studied painting, bringing both scientific curiosity and a creative perspective to her work in medicine.
Her clinical interests span both low and high-risk obstetrics, adolescent gynecology, infertility, in-office procedures, and minimally invasive surgery for gynecologic conditions. She is focused on helping patients access effective and less invasive treatments that improve their quality of life.
Dr. Shinners lives in Scarborough, Maine with her husband and two children. Outside of work, she enjoys scuba diving, pickleball, tennis, and spending time with her family on Maine’s beaches and ski mountains.
I’ve been shaped by a lifelong emphasis on perseverance, positivity, and kindness. I strive to bring that outlook into all aspects of my practice.
